Lost and Floundering

Lost and floundering, searching for something to cling to.
My rock was torn asunder and sank to the bottom of the sea
Taking my soul with it

Drowning in sorrow and frustration
Looking for a way back to the surface
Blood pouring from a wound that won’t heal

My body floats to the surface
Limp and useless
There are no words, no gestures that can take the pain from me

How do I get them to understand
How do I teach the children
That they must go on, must live
Must find joy and peace
When I cannot

The music plays, deep, soulful sounds
Songs that bring back memories
Still no abating of the pain
Vibrating through the house
The sound of pain
