Ideas for biome/lifecycle studies

We are allowed pets at our current dwelling. While we miss having a dog and cats and all that it is perhaps a good thing. However, I have been considering skirting a fine line. If it is a school project is it really a pet?

I am thinking of some small little creature that would fulfill maybe a biome study unit or something of that nature. I don’t want to get anything that is going to get really big and well sorry but snakes are out, they have their place just not in my humble abode. I was thinking small frogs, turtles, lizards, something along those lines. Something that has a life cycle we could study but I don’t want to have too many off spring that finding them new homes would be very hard, unless the pet store agreed to take them in. So there is a lot to consider there as well. Unless of course we do fish, I know guppies breed fairly well and the kids have had fish before and loved them.

I still need to run the idea past DH, that will be fun but I think I can make him see my way in the overall scheme of things.

Ok, honestly I can’t remember too many times where I have hadn’t a pet of some kind or we haven’t had some for the kids. Something about pets and kids just seems so right.

Tomorrow after a trip to pick up some plastic drawers from freecycle we are calling a family meeting to discuss project ideas that might be fun. We have the garden plans that are coming along slowly, I have the pet who isn’t really a pet thing, sewing/craft ideas, oh just tons of things, it will be interesting to see what we come up with.

Well this tired and “icky” infested mom is going to take her butt to bed.

Light and Love!
