A disappointing frog hunt

Well, apparently what my children thought were tadpoles were actually minnows. Which would mean to me that the ditches around the neighborhood have a connection to fresh water somewhere along the way.

Anyway, we caught one to look at for a little while and then set it back into the water. The exact spot they found the frogs may have eggs later on, it has been rather chilly at night. It also might have been the time of day we were looking so we will try an evening look see one night to see if we can watch the frogs and their habits, etc.

Not all was lost, they have been studying minnows this afternoon at the Virginia Tech Virtual Aquarium. So over all still a good day. I am hoping that maybe we can do some kind of project with an aquarium ourselves. We cannot have pets technically but I would be if we could do something in with amphibians, fish, turtles or lizards we might be able to get away with it.

Off to make chocolate chip pancakes for dinner!!

Light and Love!
